Instructor at Arete Outdoor Centre

Your role:

To deliver high quality outdoor education courses to the range of schools attending our multi day residentials throughout the year. You'll need to gain a good working knowledge of gorge, coasteering, sea level traversing, climbing, boating, mountain and underground venues across North Wales, if not known already. Each instructor is assigned a group for the week and it will be your responsibility to choose the best venues and activities for your groups course learning objectives, ability and given weather, each day. Typically you'll need to design an achievable adventurous day, that will challenge your group. 

Most courses are Monday to Friday. You will be required to work an evening on many of the course weeks and the occasional weekend. 

We are also looking for an instructor that will be able to direct some of our school courses. This will involve making contact with a school before arrival to make sure we have all the group information, check in with the visiting teachers each day of the course and write up the post course report. 

The right candidate needs to be able to liaise with attending female pupils and attend to any personal and social needs that may present themselves, during the course and provide a stong female role model to all.

The ideal candidate will have at least Rock Climbing Instructor, Summer Mountain Leader, Paddlesport Leader, D1 minibus license. 

It will be desirable to also hold MCI, Local or Vertical Mine Leader, Winter Mountain Leader, Sea, Canoe or White Water Leader,  Coasteering Guide, D1E minibus and trailer.

For the right candidate further ongoing training can be provided in activities they are less experienced in. It is expected the candidate will be able to work a 0.6 to 0.8 contract. The exact number of days to be mutually agreed.
