We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Manager to join our team and drive sales across Wilderness Scotland and Wilderness England.  We are also looking for a Custom Trip Designer in each of our Scotland and England offices too!

Sales Manager - Job Overview

The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing the sales team, ensuring excellent customer service, and designing custom trips. This role requires a proactive and strategic individual with strong project management skills to drive efficiency and support the direct sales program. The ideal candidate will excel in handling high-value enquiries, identifying and implementing new processes, and streamlining operations to enhance overall sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Growth:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to drive growth in the direct sales program.

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities and markets to expand the customer base.

  • Monitor sales performance metrics, analyze trends, and report on sales activities to senior management.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create campaigns and initiatives that support sales objectives.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders to drive business development.

2. People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team to achieve sales targets and deliver high-quality customer service.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Help develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the sales team.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement.

3. Customer Service

  • Ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained at all times by the sales team.

  • Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfactory resolutions.

  • Support the team in providing personalized advice and assistance to customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.

  • Help develop and implement customer service policies and procedures to enhance the overall customer experience.

  • Monitor customer feedback and use insights to drive improvements in service delivery.

4. Custom Trip Design:

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their interests, preferences, and requirements for bespoke Wilderness trips.

  • Design and create customized trip itineraries that provide unique and memorable experiences that align with our carbon reduction goals.

  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless delivery of custom trips, including logistics and special requests.

  • Stay informed about new destinations, activities, and trends in adventure and luxury travel to continually enhance product offerings.

  • Maintain detailed records of custom trip designs and customer interactions for future reference.

5. Project Management

  • Oversee and manage sales-related projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Coordinate with various departments, including marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Develop project plans, set milestones, and track progress to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Help identify and implement new technologies to streamline processes and improve sales performance.

  • Ensure all projects align with the key goals of the business and contribute to overall company success.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that could impact project outcomes.

  • Regularly communicate project status, updates, and results to senior management and other stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in a sales management role, preferably within the travel or adventure tourism industry.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of motivating and developing a team.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience in designing custom travel experiences and understanding customer needs.

  • Good local knowledge of the UK

  • Ability to handle customer complaints with tact and professionalism, ensuring positive resolutions.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Proactive and results-oriented with a strategic mindset and the ability to think creatively.

  • Passion for wilderness and adventure travel in the UK, with a deep knowledge of the region’s attractions and activities.
